ARHA Education Services Program

Knowledge & Skills Development for Untrained Health Care Aides

Assiniboine Regional Health Authority (ARHA) Education Services has developed theory and skill based education modules designed to address the learning needs of the Untrained Health Care Aide (HCA) in ARHA facilities or programs. This program will be in addition to the orientation that is currently provided.

The program is offered approximately 4 times a year and consists of:

- Four consecutive days (or four days in the same week) of basic theory and skills training

- Fifth day will be offered (approximately one month later) as a follow up to training including written test

Criteria for participants:

- Untrained HCA’s hired within six months prior to course start date

- Not currently enrolled in or having completed the Comprehensive Health Care Aide course

- Participants chosen must be in consultation with Facility/Client Care Coordinator and/or Area Manager

Note: This is not a Health Care Aide Certificate course, participants must still enroll in a Health Care Aide Course as per position requirements
