Feeding and Swallowing Difficulties Management Program
Understanding the causes, symptoms and management of the feeding and swallowing difficulties through education and training can help staff provide the best possible care. A regional approach to this issue, based on best practice guidelines, enhances desired outcomes in resident care. The Feeding and Swallowing Difficulties Management Program was established for training and providing resources and a process for staff to follow to properly manage the care of the residents with feeding and swallowing difficulties.
The Feeding and Swallowing Difficulties Management Program is a part of the Long Term Care Education. The Education Coordinator assigned to Long Term Care is responsible for organizing the education for Train the Trainers and monitoring the program.
