eLearning – What it is….
• In the world of healthcare, lifelong learning and continuous professional development are requirements of the job. eLearning is a web-based method of learning that provides the user with a learn-on-demand system. The eLearning S.P.O.T. (Staff Portal to Online Training) is the name of one of the ARHA’s web-based learning systems, which has been specifically designed for the region’s staff. It allows for easy access to continuing education opportunities with flexibility to suit your individual schedules. It also provides you with an on-line experience that has been customized based on your professional designation and your area(s) of practice.
• In a time of human resource shortages, rising travel costs, tight budgets, and added personal demands on our time, such a learning tool provides a tremendous increase in accessibility and availability that no other method of learning achieves.
• You can log into the eLearning site at http://www.arha-elearning.ca any time of day or night, from work and from home. If you are interrupted during a module, you can return where you left off at another time. The website is set up so that you will have your own private, password protected profile, designed just for you.

What eLearning isn’t….
• It is not meant to take the place of traditional hands-on practical learning or replace other credible online courses from accredited institutions. It is meant to offer you alternatives to learning when the content is suitable for online modules. It can offer blended learning opportunities, combining online components with practical ones. This will help to reduce time spent away from home and work in some instances.
• It is not an education program designed to obtain a degree, diploma or certificate.

Your eLearning site will help you keep up with any required knowledge for you job position and/or required knowledge or desired continuing education to retain and complement your existing professional education.
