The Town of Treherne is situated on Highway #2 approximately mid-way between the cities of Winnipeg and Brandon.
The rolling lands of the Tiger Hills to the south provide a pleasant setting for the community. Pinkerton Lakes, some six miles outh, have been designated a wildlife management area. The Assinibione River Valley, lying to the north lends itself to irrigation as well as recreation and hunting.
Agriculture is the main economic activity. Over the last several years, producers have diversified into potatoes and beans as well as the more traditional cereals and pulse crops. Many farmers are also involved in the livestock industry. A number of agriculture-related businesses, including a farm machinery dealership, make Treherne a major rural service center in south central Manitoba.
Delahunt Golf and Country Club is a 9 hole, par 36 public golf course. Rental clubs and carts, food and beverages are available at the new Clubhouse (rebuilt in 2005).
Treherne Aquatic Centre (new in 2006) is a junior olympic-size heated pool and is open for public swimming and lessons daily in July and August. It is home to the Tiger Sharks Swim Team and boasts a beach entry and lazy river. The Treherne Arena has recently been outfitted with bleachers and a modern kitchen through the efforts of the Minor Athletic Association and willing volunteers. Artificial ice facilitates minor, adult and recreational hockey, ringette, figure skating and community/family skating, compliments of Treherne Kinsmen. Treherne also has a Curling Rink with 3 sheets of artificial ice, a viewing area, concession & a bar. Cottonwood Campground has been updated with 29 new sites (fully serviced) that are beautifully landscaped.
Treherne Pathways and Boyne Valley Nature Trail were established in 2001. The trails consists of 1.5 km of walkways along the Boyne Valley on the east side of town with another 2.5 km going through town.
