GEOGRAPHY / DEMOGRAPHICS
The town of Russell is located in south western Manitoba along Highway #16, the Yellowhead Route very near the Saskatchewan border. Russell is approximately 200 km northwest of the City of Brandon.
ECONOMIC BASE
The community of Russell serves as the major commercial, health and service centre for a large trading area of approximately 40 km. Crop and livestock production provides the basis of the local economy, along with a strong service and light manufacturing sector. Growing value-added processing and a budding tourism industry provide additional regional development.
RECREATION BASE
The region is recognized for its close access to parks and recreational facilities, natural beauty and quality of life that is second to none.
Residents are blessed with numerous outdoor recreational activities including boating & fishing, camping, down-hill & cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, golfing and hunting. A strong recreation commission and committed community volunteers ensure access to a fully equipped fitness centre, arenas, swimming pools, dance, music & arts training and a myriad of youth and adult sports programs.
Due to a growing tourism industry the area offers many quality food & beverage services and accommodations. The Russell Inn and Russell & District Community Centre provide excellent meeting and convention facilities.

EDUCATION
The town of Russell is serviced by a Nursery to Senior 4 school while the neighboring communities of Binscarth and Inglis offer Nursery to Grade 8. We are also located in close proximity to Ecole Saint-Lazare, a French K to Senior 4 school.
Post-secondary training can be accessed through Assiniboine Community College Parkland Southwest Regional Centre who offer fulltime college certificate programs, an adult learning centre and a number of continuing education programs.
