GEOGRAPHY / DEMOGRAPHICS

Sitting on the shores of beautiful Killarney Lake, the Municipality of Killarney—Turtle Mountain is a thriving population of around 3300 people. Killarney is located at the junction of Highway 3 and 18; just 1 hour from the City of Brandon and 3 hours from the City of Winnipeg.

The surrounding land is mainly flat with gently rolling hills breaking the horizon. Numerous tree-lined rivers and streams cross the landscape, breaking up the vast farm fields.

Killarney Lake is the heart of the community and is the focus for many of the activities throughout the year. Located at the edge of town, it is a popular resort attracting vacationers to cottages and campgrounds every summer.

ECONOMIC BASE

The Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain and the surrounding area is deeply rooted in agriculture. RECREATION BASE

Killarney Lake boasts opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, water-skiing, canoeing, etc. There’s something for everyone at the lake.

The Lakeside Golf Course is one of the biggest attractions in Killarney. The “hidden jewel of the south” is an 18-hole course offering a full-service clubhouse, pro-shop, driving range and group facilities.

The Killarney Shoppers Mall, houses many shops and businesses and provides a comfortable walking place for exercise during the cold winter months.

The Shamrock Sports Park is home to the Heritage House, curling rink, several baseball diamonds, fair barns and The Little Irish Downs.

There are a number of organized sports and recreational programs for all ages. From minor sports, like hockey, soccer, baseball, figure-skating and curling to senior’s programs and clubs.
