Assiniboine Regional Health Authority: together, an innovative future-oriented organization providing evidence-informed, sustainable, quality health services.

Mission

Through participation, teamwork, and available resources, our mission is to share in enhanced well-being through the delivery of quality health services that are responsive to the needs of the population.

Strategic Priorities

ARHA will aim to be an employer of choice through creative, proactive recruitment and retention strategies.
ARHA will focus on specific population group needs when prioritizing service delivery strategies.
ARHA will prioritize resources and strategies to support & enhance health promotion & disease prevention and management.
ARHA will focus on patient safety, quality & resource stewardship while balancing the need for accessibility & sustainability of services.
ARHA will develop & enhance public & client engagement processes for regional priority areas.

Strategic Priorities 2011-2016

Strategic Priority #1

The Assiniboine Regional Health Authority will aim to be an employer of choice through creative, proactive recruitment and retention strategies.

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies aimed at addressing critical human resource needs.
  • Demonstrate active allocation of time, effort and resources toward the retention of the region’s most valuable resource – staff.

Strategic Priority #2

The Assiniboine Regional Health Authority will focus on specific population groups when prioritizing service delivery strategies.

  • Continue to establish partnerships and relationships with aboriginal populations aimed at addressing their specific health needs as identified through the Community Health Assessment.
  • Focus programming on addressing the specific needs of seniors in the region.
  • Begin development of a Men’s Wellness Program focusing on the specific needs of this population as identified through the Community Health Assessment.
  • Link with other resources/partners to develop regional strategies/services that will assist in addressing the challenges facing new immigrant populations.

Strategic Priority #3

The Assiniboine Regional Health Authority will prioritize resources and strategies to support & enhance health promotion & disease prevention and management.

  • Focus resources and strategies on the prevention and management of chronic disease.
  • Focus on expanding chronic disease self-management capacity across the region.

Strategic Priority #4

The Assiniboine Regional Health Authority will focus on patient safety, quality & resource stewardship while balancing the need for accessibility & sustainability of services.

  • Develop and/or implement adequately resourced facility services specific to high/special care needs while maximizing use of available resources.
  • Develop strategies to stabilize the regional EMS program.
  • Continually strive to improve quality of care, focusing on patient safety and use of evidence informed practice.

Strategic Priority #5

The Assiniboine Regional Health Authority will develop and enhance public and client engagement processes for regional priority areas.

  • Develop specific strategies aimed at improving quality of current engagement processes.

ARHA Ethics Policy

The Brandon Regional Health Authority Ethics Committee provides services to the Assiniboine Regional Health Authority. The ARHA maintains active membership within the committee which meets regularly and serves five functions – supporting the vision of “decision making guided by ethics”. The core functions of the committee include:

  1. Education – building integrated ethics capacity
  2. Consultation and advice
  3. Case reviews – prospective and retrospective
  4. Review and approval of research proposals
  5. Policy review

Brandon Regional Health Authority Ethics

The Assiniboine Regional Health Authority is an active partner within the Manitoba Provincial Health Ethics Network, launched in 2009. The Network serves to “advance integration of ethics in health care” across Manitoba. See the link below to view the MB PHEN website that links providers to health ethics resources and strategies.
